The G.O.P.’s rising star

Kelly Ayotte, former New Hampshire attorney general, has really gotten Democrats spooked. They fear the G.O.P.’s charismatic “rising star” could be the next Sarah Palin. Rumor has it she’s eyeing a possible seat in the U.S. Senate — one Republicans are desperate to gain. Political analyst Dean Spiliotes says, “She’s young, she’s got a nice family, two little kids, married, photogenic, articulate…All the things you want in a candidate. And she’s fresh.”
But with all this talk about her personal life, there’s little mention about her political history and positions. Does this describe a sad, sad state of American politics? Do the Dems really have nothing to worry about?

Dems elected freaking Al Franken to the US Senate….and it’s somehow a “sad, sad state of American politics” because they talked about personal life of a GOP former AG who might run for the Senate??? How much time did the media spend talking about Sotomayor’s life/background vs honest digging into political history??

I think another GOP spokesmodel would be wonderful. Someone who can hold up the product (whatever it is) and smile. Democrats, be afraid. Be very afraid.

Actually, they just need someone who can read a speech and act like they’re a southern Baptist preacher in front of one audience, an Ivy League elitist in front of another, and member of the foreign US bashing corp in front of another. Apparently that’s all it takes in terms of qualifications as far as Dems are concerned.
